19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He saved four early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
